This timpani solo is based upon the topography and history of Temple Mountain, Utah. The opening motive is based upon the jagged landscape of the mountain. A variety of extended techniques reference the mystique of rich Native American traditions as displayed in petroglyphs near the mountain and the active uranium mining at the mountain (geiger counter sound effect included!).
