Commissioned by Dr. Michael Bovenzi, alto saxophone, for a premier performance with Charlotte Mabrey, percussion, at the 2014 North American Saxophone Alliance Conference. Inspired by popular Afro-Cuban rhythms, this duet for fully-notated drumset and alto saxophone allows both instruments to step outside of their traditional boundaries with the saxophone often emulating a full rhythm section and the drums getting chances to play the melody.
